What To Expect

We all were new, at one time, and we remember what it's like. So we've provided the information below, knowing that it's easier to venture into a new place when you know what to expect.

About Us

Tri-City Baptist Church exists to encourage all people to pursue a lifelong, joyous relationship with Jesus Christ. Our history dates back to 1989, when a small group of people, founded this church in Hickory, North Carolina. We are a local self-governing, atonomous church. That means that we are governed by our own, not an outside organization. We choose to participate in both local and the National Southern Baptist Convention.

Sunday Mornings

About 900 people attend Tri-City each Sunday, and we have many volunteers working hard to make sure all visitors are welcomed and encouraged.

Our congregation spans a range of ages and backgrounds. You'll see people dressed in all styles—from jeans to business suits. Our worship style is “blended"—meaning that services include both traditional and contemporary music.

Each service lasts about one hour and fifteen minutes. Starting with a Call to Prayer, you are encouraged to come to the front or just sit in your seats, if you like. Later the pastor will encourage you to greet the people sitting around you, but no one will single you out. We don't expect our visitors to give. At the end of the Service, we have a guest reception just for you. First-time visitors are invited to follow an usher who will guide you to our Guest Reception. This is an opportunity for our guests to enjoy light refreshments and meet our Senior Pastor.

Getting Connected

Getting connected at Tri-City is about relationships that get beneath the surface. Those kinds of relationship won’t come simply by attending worship services. They take time.

One way to get connected is to join a Bible study group in Sunday School. These are available for all ages—children, preteen, youth, college, men, and women. Life University Classes are offered twice a year. From managing money to building a stronger marriage, these classes will help you know God and build relationships with His people.

Serving others also deepens your relationship with God and people. We offer a variety of service opportunities that will connect you with a team of staff and volunteers who work together in serving others and God.
